Qur'an 3:54
[edit]Why is quran 3:54 not one of his names? And they cheated/deceived and God cheated/deceived, and God (is) the best (of) the cheaters/deceivers — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.187.86.194 (talk) 14:39, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
- Not a Muslim, but unless you are trying to promote a phobia, then I expect you to appeal to other texts rather than Lane's lexicon or WikiIslam, the latter of which is not authoritative. Can you find a similar meaning in other dictionaries independent of Lane's? Here is an example: م ك ر and مكر. The correct translation is "And they plotted/schemed and the God plotted/schemed, and the God is the best of plotters/schemers." How can the God (in concept) be a "cheater/deceiver"? Right, you clearly have no knowledge of Islamic theology whatsoever. Reply once you studied Islam more without bias.
- To answer your question, the 99 names of the God in Islamic tradition is set by classical scholarship (see the opening part of the article). Tell that to Islamic scholars whether "al-Mākirīna" (the Plotter/Schemer) is found in one of the variant lists. Good luck! ~ POKéTalker(═◉═) 00:55, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

The list is inauthentic
[edit]The list is based on a weak (daif) hadith from Tirmidhi (Vol. 6, Book 45, Hadith 3507). Authentic list of 99 names doesn't exist. And for example the name Saboor (الصبور) doesn't exist in the Quran nor in any authentic hadith. In all of the 3 verses where it supposedly is, the patience is actually mentioned as an attribute of the believers, never as a name of Allah. Flplf (talk) 18:59, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
