Paragraph break

[edit]

I've added a paragraph break for clarity, which editor Track1News talk has been reverting for unknown reasons.

This seems trivial, but the main desideratum of an encyclopedia is that it should be readable. Excessively long paragraphs are hard to read. A paragraph that wanders from one topic to a different one is hard to follow.

I'm baffled as to Track1News talk's zeal for eliminating paragraph breaks. The explanation "we didn't have a paragraph break here before so we don't need one now" has no basis in Wikipedia policy.

World record for Mx meaning?

[edit]

Ruth Chepng'etich set a record in the Chicago marathon, as for as known she competed as a woman so why is it mentioned as Mx world record seperately? Fhretzel (talk) 08:06, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@KnowledgeIsPower9281 where/when/why has it become customary to set records differently for races where only women compete? Fhretzel (talk) 08:13, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
World Athletics has set this precedent. A "Mx" world record refers to a women's world record set in a mixed race (i.e: both males and females in the same race), while a "Wo" world record refers to a women's world record set in a female-only race. Of course, the Mx world record will be faster than the Wo world record because a woman will have male competitors/pacers to push her to run faster.
